We had a great time. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We order different appetizers, entrees and dessert. Our group loved all the food. Everything was delicious. I only took one picture of the basmati rice and chicken. I highly recommend this restaurant.

If I could give 10 stars I would! I was visiting Middletown for a conference and had planned to eat at Abyssinian my last night. I neglected to check what days they are closed - and it happened to be Mondays, the day I ventured down for a meal. It was a lovely evening and I was ready to eat! The owner was outside planting his flower boxes. I was surprised not to see anyone sitting at the tables. Sadly, he said they were closed. We started chatting and I shared my disappointment and prepared to look for an alternative option. He then went inside where the chef was prepping food for the next day. He soon returned with a full plate of food for me. The most delicious and satisfying meal. He was wonderful company during my meal and told me all about his hometown and the history of Ethiopia! What a delight this experience was.

Me and my fiance were looking for places to eat and we’ve never had Ethiopian food before but we enjoy trying new things so we gave it a shot. It was the best choice we’ve made for a meal in a longgg time. So much flavor, it literally tasted like someone’s mom made it in their kitchen with love. When they brought it out, they explained to us how to properly eat everything as well. We’ll be back next week this meal healed our souls after a long work week.

Was craving Ethiopian food and found this gem. They were short staffed but the wait was totally worth it. The doro wat was amazing. Highly recommend this place. Decided to come here again for my final meal being in this area. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Hartford area. Flavors are delectable. Try the honey wine too... so good.

Ordered from this restaurant via door dash and the flavors were absolutely delicious. This is my second time having Ethiopian cuisine and this restaurant had much more flavor and higher quality than my first experience at a different restaurant. I had the Doro Wot. The flavor of the stew was rich with a great spice and the injera bread and veggie sides were a good portion with good flavor as well.

The host was extremely kind and it was my first time trying Ethiopian food and it did not disappoint. Thank you so much for the great experience! I can’t wait to come back.
